A new book for the whole family from Peter and Monique Aubry Frize
The Christmas Puppy
A charming tale of an abandoned Golden Retriever puppy named Duke!
Perfection at first
When Papa rescues Duke from a lonely shelter and brings him home for the Christmas holiday, the puppy is overwhelmed with love and joy.
“This is the best day of my life!”
Then the family ignores him
Everyone is thrilled for a while, but soon the busyness of life takes over: school, work, a new baby. Trying to get attention, Duke barks too loud, too often. Papa banishes him to his doghouse inside a fence in the backyard.
“I’m right back where I started. Alone in a cage.”
Suddenly Duke is a hero!
Sometimes it takes a calamity for folks to be aware of their errors and grateful for their blessings. Duke begins to understand more English, and the family learns more Doglish. A sweet surprise on their second Christmas fills him with happiness like he’s never felt before.
“I couldn’t even have dreamed this would happen!”

Meet Editor Monique Frize…
Chapter 1: Alone
The puppy was all alone now. His brother and sister were gone. People had carried them from the cage and out the door at the end of the corridor. He had been sad since that moment.
I miss them so much.
Every minute of every day, he missed playing rough and tumble and chasing each other’s tail. He missed them every night when the shelter was dark and quiet, except for the scruffy black dog in the next cage who snored sooo loud.
Without his brother and sister, the puppy didn’t have much to do. He just sat alone and watched people walk by his cage. Some leaned over and made funny noises at him or poked fingers through the bars to tickle his ears. He liked that a lot, but felt sad when they stood up and walked away.
Each time the door at the end of the corridor opened, the puppy hoped to see his brother and sister run in. It never happened. Only the staff or strangers entered. He did recognize one person who came every morning when he woke up and at night right before bedtime, pushing a rolling cart filled with bowls of food and water. Whenever the food lady arrived at his cage, he wagged his tail and ran around in circles to show how much he liked her.
His life at the shelter wasn’t hard, just boring. And lonely. No one to play with. Ever. Much of the day he lay flat on his tummy, head on his paws, staring down the corridor, wondering…
What’s on the other side of that door?

Selected stories from writer-warrior TrEY MEADE
The SINS of DOC RAT
Historians tell you what happened.
Trey Meade shows you how it felt.
“Want to make God laugh?”
Trey Meade’s plan didn’t go the way he’d imagined. Bringing a unique voice to the pantheon of Vietnam War era literature, he writes as if fiction and nonfiction were Siamese twins, conjoined at the heart, exploring society’s foibles, complex issues and simple joys. After 17 months and untold brutal battles in Vietnam, Trey headed home as a wounded vet to face two wars that challenged him for decades: PTSD and Public Opinion (“Get over it”). These are his stories of combat in Vietnam and the challenges he faced back home in Texas after the war. Several of Trey’s accounts are autobiographical, penned in his inimitable style – eloquent, intense, witty at times. Strap yourself in, forget your plan and enjoy the ride!

She Be Queen
Author/Artist: Sandra Wright
Words from the back cover by the author/artist Sandra Wright… Women have always been a theme in my work. In my artwork and writing, I’ve explored their anger, silences, and lack of a sense of power. It is a privilege for me to bring together my two passions—art and poetry—in She Be Queen. I hope to tap into choruses of other women’s voices through my own journey. Finding power is a path all women may not get to experience, but sometimes I’ve been favored in my search that will never be finished. From the deep-rooted anger of youth to middle age, unacknowledged ghosts haunted me, but I was still able to be a weaver, artist, and poet teacher. And now a poet. My first awakening began when I moved to New Mexico and continued in Thailand, where I spent the last ten years of my life in Chiang Mai. I call Thailand my “spiritual growing up place” and New Mexico my “soul home.” In both places, spirit and people have been my teachers. In 2020 I returned to nurture my deep roots to Taos, New Mexico, to continue to discover, and to explore the treasures of my life.

book releases
Instead of slogging through the interminable submission process with major publishers, I decided to get my books out there. Now. Readers of my latest novel—FLESH and BLOOD and DNA—have demanded a sequel, and it’s currently living in my mind. My mission is clear. If I don’’t finish it before I die, I’m going to kill myself. (My other books will be ready for you to read soon.)
cover and internal layout design
Need a book cover? A professional text layout? Let’s talk. Get it right the first time. First impressions last. Fighting with a Word doc alone is like tackling a massive sumo wrestler. I prefer Adobe InDesign.
manuscript editing
I work for and with the author. I’d never want to be editor for a publisher with strict rules about what’s “acceptable.” My goal is to facilitate the Five C’s: Clear, Concise, Consistent, Correct, and Creative. Oh yeah, and the vital Number Six: CONTENT. I’ve edited novels, stories, promo materials, and one dissertation (one’s enough). Let’s make your project stellar.
